Shouldn't I still get a 1099 form?

I worked for a company in 2008 as an admin. When they hired me on, the told me for the first three months they would keep me as a 1099 employee and then if I was good enough to stay, I would be a w-2 employee. I know now this was not right of them-they were most likely trying to evade responsibility by keeping me as a 1099. Nothing I can do about that now. After three months they made me a w-2. Anyway, I quit after working there 6 months. My question is, I got my w-2 form for taxes in the mail, but I've not recieved anything when I collected wages as a 1099-aren't they obligated to send something to me? I am thinking they knew what they did was not right and are trying to pretend my time as a 1099 worker never happened, but I don't know for sure. What is the next step I should take to ensure all the money I earned is reported on my taxes this year? I would really like to file, but I don't want to be accused of not reporting what I earned, and my old job is withholding information!
