Homework Help! What is this Poem about?!?

I get the feeling like he feels sorry for her and wants to tell her that she should and could be doing something more constructive with her life then dancing on the stage for drunk men. I also think she knows this but it's like she has no choice or feels like she has no other out. Because of this she resents the men there and wants to "sell" or give them back what they are giving her, empty attention. It was very nice and it sets a picture in the mind as you read it. You can feel the desire he has to free her and the sadness that she goes through with her occupation. Sounds corny but i thought it was very good. Hope that helps.
