WHY DOES A DIAMOND IMMERSED IN WATER SPARKLE LESS THAN A DIAMOND IN AIR?

i think it's because light is also reflecting from the water too... so they both give the same effect making it seem as though the diamond is doing it alone... it's like a distraction..
