What's a concave bottom? What tail shape is the best?

I am shaping my own board and i have heard great things about concave bottoms. I was wondering what you guys think. What is the fastest, most maneuverable bottom for a fish? Also, i am pretty sure i am going to make a swallow tail, but i was wondering if thier are any other tail shapes that would be better.
